 Lee
Knapp began working with mud -focusing on pies- during the 1960s
in the woods behind her suburban ranch house. Over a dozen
years ago, it became her job as she rediscovered her imagination
and began creating a wide variety of personal gifts out of clay.
Likewise, her lifelong love of words has recently produced a book,
GRACE in the FIRST PERSON (click on filmstrip to the right), which
attempts to create meaning from the raw, earthy material of her
life.
Lee runs her studio in a converted lawnmower shed she's dubbed the "shedudio," where
she tries - as she says- to "make something of myself" with
either the clay, paint and tools on one side of the 12’ by
20’ space, or from the books and computer on the other. In
the manner of Thoreau, Knapp is once again working in the woods.
She jokes that she is going to hang a sign on the door of her shedudio
that says, "Do not disturb; Living deliberately.”
She invites you to roam through this virtual shedudio and see what
strikes your imagination.
